Company History

1935‒1945

The brothers Heinrich and Richard Weppler found H.u.R. Weppler oHG. High demand for fuel tank and carburetor filters for motorcycles leads to expansion into larger facilities in Frankfurt Rödelheim.

In 1945, they begin producing tank and oil filters for the VW Beetle. The company employs 12 people.

1960s

Weppler Filter develops and manufactures mesh filters. This decade marks the start of collaboration with Robert Bosch GmbH on injection system components. In 1965, Heinz Weppler (son of Heinrich) joins the company.

By the late 1960s, product range includes oil, gas, water, air, and fuel filters/screens.

1970‒2000

In 1977, Heinz Weppler and Albert Eckert take over management. Weppler Filter GmbH is established during restructuring. Collaboration with Bosch and ATE deepens, leading to ABS filter developments. By 1985, the company has 120 employees.

In 1986, the company relocates to Oberursel. In 1994, Stephan Weppler joins the company.

2000s

Stephan Weppler becomes Managing Director in 2004. Andrea Eckert (granddaughter of Richard) joins in 2006 and becomes Managing Director in 2007.

A 2,000 m² plant is built in Czech Republic in 2012 and expanded shortly after via a new building.

In 2013, “Filter Malika” is founded in Morocco. In 2015, Plant 2 opens in Germany (Oberursel).

A fully automated production line for a DNOx system is installed in Ostrava.

In 2019, Plant 2 is expanded again.

2021

With our corporate start-up Weppler Technologies, we make our decades of engineering excellence available to innovators.

Weppler Czech s.r.o. was founded in 1994 and manufactures precision and microfilter technology in the Czech Republic. The company primarily manufactures small series and labour-intensive products. Weppler Tools s.r.o. was founded in 1994. Project management covers project planning, development and design, tool and fixture construction, material procurement, scheduling, series parts, assembly and quality assurance, packaging, customs clearance and series delivery. Trefil & Schomberg s.r.o. was founded in 1990. The company provides visual inspections, maintenance of measuring instruments and calibration of length measuring devices. In July 2000, the certification process was successfully completed and the system certificate according to DIN ISO 9002 was obtained. In 2008, the company was acquired by Weppler Filter s.r.o. and its name was changed to Weppler & Trefil s.r.o. Weppler & Trefil s.r.o.
